On Thursday, March 2nd, 2023, our members enjoyed an informative talk on the super antioxidant, carbon 60, presented by Dr. Vedant Arun from Nirvanic Naturals.
What is C60?
- Carbon 60 is 172 times more powerful than Vitamin C and is considered to be the world’s most efficient antioxidant.
- The scientists who discovered C60 were awarded the Nobel Prize in 1996.
- A 2012 study demonstrated that rats treated with C60 lived for nearly twice as long as compared to those that did not get C60. This had never been achieved by any other drug or supplement [1].
- When given C60, mice that lacked mitochondrial superoxide dismutase (an antioxidant produced by the body) increased their lifespan by 300%[2].
About Dr. Vedant Arun
Dr. Arun has done extensive research on C60. He graduated from the Department of Medical Biophysics at the University of Toronto and led studies within the University Hospital Network in the fields of cell biology, proteomics, genetic engineering, cloning and cancer research.
As a certified Clinical Research Associate he worked on studying the effectiveness of cancer therapeutics in a Phase II clinical trial in partnership with academic, hospital and pharmaceutical stakeholders.
After finishing the clinical trial, Dr. Arun lent his surgical expertise to the organ & tissue donation and transplantation agency of the Ministry of Health in Ontario, with a specialization in surgical excision of ocular tissue that could be transplanted to help restore the gift of sight to visually impaired.
In 2020, he discontinued his hospital commitments and devoted himself to focusing on raising awareness of nutrition, supplementation and natural remedies, since our communities need it now more than ever!
